Interfaith Statement

Children of Abraham in the Southern Tier, under the leadership of Rabbi Goldman-Wartell formally issued a statement condemning all acts of Religious Discrimination. We reached out to the Greater Binghamton community, and within a four day period, gathered 226 signatures including 43 clergy members. We believe that, especially during this time of inflammatory rhetoric this sends an important message to our community.

On December 21, 2015, many of us gathered at Confluence Park in Binghamton, NY to share our statement with the public and the press.  We based our statement on the work of he Northwest Suburban Interfaith Council of Buffalo Grove, IL. A group of clergy and others helped refine the language which we think gives an important message to our community.

Ehtisham Siddiqui, a Trustee of the Islamic Organization of the Southern Tier and its current President made a statement during this gathering to give voice to our Muslim community's desire for peace, to articulate Islam's belief in the sanctity of human life, and commitment to work with law enforcement to ensure safety for all.
